Overview

This King 3B H.N. White Era Tenor Trombone, built around 1965, features the classic .508 bore, 8″ yellow brass bell, and lightweight nickel silver handslide typical of mid-century King 3B designs. The instrument retained original parts and included a basic Protec case.

The bell section showed mostly unlacquered brass, while lacquer on the outer handslide was worn from normal use. Structurally the trombone remained sound, and the handslide operated smoothly following shop preparation.

King 3B models from the H.N. White period are widely recognized examples of classic American small-bore jazz tenor design.

Player Perspective

The King 3B has long been a staple for jazz ensemble and commercial playing because of its manageable bore size and familiar King proportions. H.N. White era examples are especially appreciated by players and collectors for their craftsmanship and historical importance within the King trombone lineage.

Clean vintage examples like this remain popular with players looking for a traditional King jazz tenor with authentic mid-century construction.
