✦ Historical Perspective
The King 3B Silversonic has long been considered one of the defining jazz trombones of the twentieth century. During the H.N. White era, King instruments were produced in Cleveland, Ohio and developed a reputation for exceptional slide action and distinctive tonal projection.
The Silversonic version is particularly special because it features a sterling silver bell, which contributes to the instrument’s unique combination of brilliance and depth. Many players describe Silversonic models as offering greater tonal complexity and projection compared with standard brass bells.
For decades, the King 3B became a standard choice among big band, studio, and commercial players, valued for its quick response and expressive character.
