Humes and Berg Pixie Mute, Stonelined, Polished Aluminum. Just like the classic red/white one, but with a bright aluminum finish. This is the type of mute to use with a plunger when you want to make your trombone talk like the teacher on Charlie Brown. Is the type that Al Grey of Count Basie Band used. He wrote a book on plunger technique too! Depending upon the size trombone bell you play on, it may be necessary to file down the corks to insert far enough into the bell. Some guys will reposition the corks and re-glue them. Al Grey would also remove the insert from the top opening, with a pair of needle nose pliars. These two tricks together will improve pitch when using a plunger. But, it may work fine for you as is, depending upon the bell size opening.
