Shires Custom Series Tenor, Boston Make May 2022  Medium bore .525 straight tenor with removable neckpipe.  Is compatible with all current and past Custom Series components, including valve sections and large bore tenor bells, tuning slides, handslides.  Has Yellow Brass 8" TII5VNY  Vintage New York Make.  Has Gold brass X taper tuning slide.  Handslide standard weight/width T25 with 3 removable leadpipes for small shank mouthpiece, included Shires 5MD.

I played this horn for several hours today during lessons in my shop.  We also had a Corp era Bach 36 standard weight yellow brass straight tenor.  Here is the comparison review: The Bach has something special in the overtones which sounds like a Bach, which most of us like.  But, the Shires had many of the same frequencies as the Bach, but felt considerably more efficient to play without sacrificing beauty of sound.  The overall sound was actually much more strong and resonant than the Vintage Bach, especially on the front end of the articulations.  Pro Players Understand this concept.  The first time we had one of these models made it went to a principal pro level symphony guy in a well known city.  I liked it then and like it now.  My testing was with a Bach 6 1/2 AL Corp Era.  The high D's and Db's were easy and shimmery.   The handslide was fantastic.  Standard width ..525 yellow brass standard weight nickel silver end crook.   Will not disappoint anyone, especially a pure 36 player looking to go next level.  Jazz Guys Take Note:  Plays like a dream and does not edge out easily, gorgeous no matter volume or articulations.  Plays Much Different than any small bar, big full sound, gorgeous tone, but not too big like a full .547 tenor.  Is a great Jazz Trombone with a commercial sound.  Orchestra Guys: You know there are a lot of programs and other playing situations that don't require a full .547 tenor- like studio work, and pops.  A trombone of this size makes total sense for some of you work.

Gorgeous overall appearance, especially with the TGX tuning slide and color buff over the entire instrument. It reminds me of why I was so excited about Shires over 12 years ago when The Brass Exchange first became a dealer.

Includes S.E. Shires accessories, mouthpiece, 3 leadpipes with pouch, Marcus Bonna case.
