REYNOLDS

Reynolds Contempora Medium Bore Tenor.  We believe it is in the .520-.525 bore size.  Has 8" rose brass bell with nickel silver tone ring on bell flare like the Olds Super.  It may have been a custom build from the 50's or 60's.  Is believed to be very rare, as many Reynolds have passed through this shop over the years.  Is remarkable in the way it plays.  Dark as you would expect with the rose brass.  Easy front end articulations.  Handslide is straight and without plating defects.  Valve plays sort of like a Conn 79H.  It's a good playing horn.  The original leadpipe is unique to shank size.  Is sort of like a Euro shank, such as that on a Euphonium, but not exactly.  I recommend using the mouthpiece that is with the horn, is a medium depth, and comfortable rim similar to a Bach 6 1/2.  If a young student is playing this horn, stick with the mouthpiece included until he/she is ready to upgrade to a different instrument.  It plays perfectly as presented here.  Most of the lacquer has been removed from the bell section, original lacquer on the valve section, and also hand slide. This is not a pristine looking instrument, it's just functional and plays proper.  I play tested it today reading Mike Davis duets with a long time Bass Trombone friend.  Was switching back and forth with my .500 bore.  No issues at all.  Is the type horn that will play big or small.  Ideally suited for all around play.  Would be an amazing step up for a talented young player that just wants to play great.  Includes a New Marco Magi NN-TRK case.  Here is a link on our website to more about the case  https://www.thebrass-exchange.com/content/marco-magi-nn-trk-large-tenor-wf-case
