Time Capsule King 3B Silversonic.  Taking it out of his closet was like opening a time capsule.  This beauty was in a case unopened for 40 years, according to the owner.   The horn was put a way in 1970 and hasn't been touched or even looked at since.  To the King Trombone collector and enthusiast, this could quite possibly be the find of a lifetime.  For the serious jazz bone player, who is on that never ending quest to find that perfect 3B, this very well may be the end of the journey. Many famous Jazz Trombone players have played on King 3B's.  Probably the most famous Jazz trombonist of all time that played the King 3B was J.J. Johnson.  When I listen to J.J. Johnson play jazz on his 3B I can't get enough.  His sound quality was amazing, articulations and pitch were simply J.J.  Once you play on a 3B you get the concept.  The 3B in this feature story is a Silversonic.  The bell is solid sterling silver.  Sterling plays with clarity and center.  The forward projection is outsanding.  The best way to describe it is that there is a lot of energy coming out of the front of the trombone.

This horn was made in 1966, It is a Vintage King 3B Silversonic at it's finest.  If you were to shop for  a modern day sterling silver 3B with gold plating- the best price that you could find on the Internet today is around $3200.  Ask yourself this question:  If you could buy a brand new King 3B Silversonic. that was made in recently or open the time capsule and get the original, that is, the real deal, for the same price, which would you choose?
