Overview

The Vincent Bach Model 8 small shank trombone mouthpiece is a lesser-known design within the Bach lineup, but one that offers a unique variation on a familiar platform.

It shares the same 24.75 mm diameter as the Bach 7, but features a slightly wider, flatter rim. The cup design closely corresponds to the 7, keeping the overall playing characteristics in a comfortable and recognizable range.

Because itโ€™s not as widely produced or discussed, the Model 8 tends to fly under the radarโ€”but for the right player, it can be an excellent fit.

Player Perspective

If youโ€™re familiar with a Bach 7, the transition to a Model 8 feels natural in terms of size and response.

Where it differs is in the rimโ€”the slightly wider and flatter shape gives a more stable feel on the face, which many players (especially those with fuller embouchures) find more comfortable over longer playing sessions.

The result is a balanced setup with a familiar sound, but a subtly different feel that can make a real difference.
