This Bach 1G bass trombone mouthpiece was manufactured in the 1980s, prior to Bach’s transition to full CNC production. Although produced after the Corporation era, these mouthpieces were still made using traditional methods and share many of the same playing characteristics valued in earlier examples.
The 1G is the largest bass trombone mouthpiece in the Bach lineup. It features a 28.0 mm rim diameter, compared to 27.5 mm on the 1½G and 1¼GM, providing additional room and comfort for players who prefer a broader rim profile.
In addition, the 1G uses a .319″ throat, the largest in the Bach bass trombone family and the same throat size found on the 1¼GM. This is notably larger than the .276″ throat of the 1½G, giving the 1G a more open feel with increased airflow and depth.
Taken together, these dimensions make the Bach 1G the largest all-around bass trombone mouthpiece Bach has produced—designed for players seeking maximum tonal weight, power, and presence.
