Overview
This original S.E. Shires Custom Series tenor trombone leadpipe – Model T8 3 (.508 bore, standard length) has now been sold and is preserved here as part of The Brass Exchange historical reference archive. Built for .508-bore Shires slides, the .508 leadpipe lineup includes sizes 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3, with the #3 taper being the most open and free-blowing option in the series. It offers maximum projection and flexibility while maintaining tonal focus and stability.
This leadpipe was lightly used and remained in excellent playing condition prior to sale, with smooth threads, proper taper alignment, and clean interior surfaces. Original Shires leadpipes like this are often sought by players refining response and resistance in modular setups, especially when experimenting with different bell and slide combinations.
The Brass Exchange has been an authorized S.E. Shires Pro Shop dealer since before the Eastman acquisition and has helped thousands of players worldwide with Shires component selection, setup, and long-term instrument care.
