✦ Overview & Condition

This 1990's Holton TR158 Large Bore Tenor Trombone, serial no. 591153, was built in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, during one of Holton’s best professional-production periods. Designed to compete with the Bach 42B and Conn 88H, the TR158 offered Holton’s signature combination of tonal warmth, projection, and durability.

This example has been fully serviced, including a chemical bath, rotor cleaning, and precision slide alignment. The handslide is smooth, properly tensioned, and compression is excellent. Structurally, the instrument is straight, clean, and ready for immediate use.

The standout feature is a custom automotive purple lacquer finish — a deep metallic hue that shines beautifully under stage or studio lighting. It’s complemented by an 8.5" rose-brass bell, gold-brass tuning slide, and nickel-silver outer handslide, giving it both visual flair and sonic richness.

Includes a Bam France hard case with Holton logo, a premium lightweight case known for its protection, modern styling, and perfect fit. Mouthpiece not included.
