A detachable flare lets the bell flare unscrew from the stem via a threaded collar.
This allows the horn to pack into a smaller case for travel.
Many players also feel it responds a touch quicker, though the tonal change is generally subtle.
Tell me about the Marcus Bonna Screw-Bell Case.
Co-branded with Greenhoe, this premium backpack-style case is custom-shaped for the GC2-Y DF.
Compact — about the size of a viola case — and lightweight yet rigidly protective for both bell flare and slide.
How does the GC2-Y DF compare to the fixed-bell GC2-Y?
It isn’t just the same horn with a detachable flare.
Players often describe the DF as having more energy, greater authority, and slightly more forward projection, while retaining the GC2-Y’s warmth and color.

What mouthpieces work best?
The GC2-Y DF accepts any standard small-shank tenor/jazz mouthpiece.
