CONN

This Conn 88HO Large Bore Tenor Trombone, built in the late 1990s, is a modern version of the legendary 88H—updated with an open wrap F-attachment for improved airflow and reduced resistance. It retains the same classic specs that made the 88H famous: a .547” bore, 8.5" rose brass bell, and a responsive handslide with gold brass outers and a nickel silver end crook.

Unlike vintage Elkhart models that use a Remington taper, this one accepts standard large shank (Morse taper) mouthpieces—making it more compatible with today’s widely available options.

This horn has been fully serviced in our shop, including a chemical bath, rotor cleaning and lubrication, water key pad replacement, and precise handslide adjustments. There is only light lacquer wear, primarily in contact areas—normal signs of use from its single adult owner. It’s clear this instrument was played regularly and well cared for.

The Conn 88HO is a favorite recommendation by band directors for advancing students moving beyond small bore beginner horns. Parents often call specifically looking for this model because of its orchestral tone, durability, and long-term upgrade value. It’s also a solid choice for adult amateurs and community band players looking for a dependable large bore tenor.

Includes the original Conn hard case in excellent condition. Mouthpiece not included.

As of 2025, a new Conn 88HO sells for over $3,400.
