Yamaha YBL-620G Dependent Bass Trombone
The Yamaha YBL-620G bass trombone (SN 455400) is a fantastic option for players seeking a reliable, versatile instrument at an approachable price point.

This is a current Yamaha model, which sells new today starting around $4,700 (2025 pricing). At approximately 15 years old, this horn remains in excellent playing condition and is ready to serve a new player for many years to come.

We performed a full shop service, including a chemical bath, complete rotor servicing, and a thorough play test and inspection. The instrument has no dents or dings, and all maintenance needs have been addressed. It retains all original parts and lacquer.

The 9.5" gold brass bell provides a rich, warm tone with excellent projection, while the .562 bore handslide ensures a balanced response across all registers. The dependent rotor system offers Bb/F/Gb/D configurations, making it a highly flexible bass trombone setup.

The handslide does have some outer lacquer loss, but the inner slide tubes are free of plating defects and remain smooth and true. Overall, the slide action is good, and the horn plays properly throughout.

This would make an ideal all-around bass trombone for any advancing player ready to step up to owning their own instrument. Pre-owned bass trombones under $3,000 in this condition are increasingly rare.

Includes the original case, in good condition and ready for travel or storage.

Where does the Yamaha YBL-622G stand among professional bass trombones?
The YBL-622G is not the top professional model made by Yamaha today, but it is certainly not a student or entry-level instrument either. It is a well-made, reliable bass trombone at a more affordable price point, ideal for advancing players looking to build their skills without jumping into a higher-priced custom or new model.

Many of our customers start out on an instrument just like this and, as they progress, later choose to trade it back in for a new or pre-owned premium bass trombone. This model offers a great balance of quality, playability, and value, making it a smart first step into serious bass trombone playing.
