S.E. Shires Custom Series Professional Tenor Trombone – 2RVE / TW47JA Configuration
This lightly used S.E. Shires Custom Series tenor trombone is in near-perfect playing condition, fully serviced and ready to play. It features a professional-level build, hand-selected and customized by the original owner using high-end Shires components—distinct from the factory-standard Vintage Elkhart model.
Configuration includes:
2RVE rose brass bell (Vintage Elkhart style, 8.5" flare)
Gold brass tuning slide
Standard rotor valve section
TW47JA wide slide (.547 straight bore)
Marcus Bonna backpack case
Includes three removable leadpipes
The TW47JA Alessi-style slide features gold brass outer tubes, a yellow brass end crook, and a wide handslide design. Unlike the stock Vintage Elkhart model, which typically includes a dual bore yellow brass slide and valve section, this custom setup opts for a straight bore layout with slightly more tonal depth and clarity—perfect for serious players seeking precision and warmth across all registers.
Why do players gravitate toward Shires' Elkhart-inspired designs?
Because they deliver the sound profile of a classic Conn 88H with the modern responsiveness and customization that today's professionals expect.
Condition: Lightly used with minor cosmetic wear, including a small area of lacquer loss at the hand grip and a very small micro ding on the outer bell flare—so minor it does not need to be addressed at this time. The instrument has never been damaged or repaired and remains structurally and mechanically excellent.
Archived for historical reference—this instrument has found a new home.
