OLDS

Olds Studio Vintage .500 Bore Nickel Jazz Model SN 756913.
Super clean Studio Model from 1971, made in Fullerton, CA. This trombone features all original parts and lacquer, except for the leadpipe, which has been loosened and replaced with a modern taper. The original Olds leadpipes had a unique taper, which meant modern small shank mouthpieces did not insert as far as most players prefer. The current leadpipe is removable, allowing you to easily switch to any .500 bore leadpipe of your choice, making this a very flexible instrument for players looking to customize their setup.

This horn has never been damaged and shows no dents or dings, making it an excellent example of Olds craftsmanship from this era. The slide is outstanding, featuring original inner tubes with no plating wear, superior alignment, and smooth, effortless action. This level of slide performance is rare for vintage horns and contributes to the fantastic playability of this instrument.

The Olds Studio model is very similar to the larger Olds Opera model in design, particularly with its nickel silver construction. Nickel silver offers a unique tonal character compared to yellow brass. It tends to have fewer high-frequency overtones, resulting in a slightly darker, warmer sound. Many jazz players and studio musicians appreciate this smoother tonal quality because it blends well and provides a rich, vintage feel.

This instrument includes a new Gator shaped hard case for modern protection and convenience. Mouthpiece is not included.
