Overview
This Bach TB600 student trombone is now part of our Archive of Sold collection at The Brass Exchange.
Originally owned by a single player and used only lightly for a few years, this instrument arrived in remarkably clean condition. Prior to sale, we completed a full professional shop service including a chemical bath, inspection, and performance evaluation to ensure everything operated exactly as intended.
The Bach TB600 has long been one of the better student trombone options available for beginning musicians. Featuring a .509 bore slide and 8-inch yellow brass bell, the design provides an easy response while maintaining enough tonal depth to support developing players through several years of study.
This example showed no dents, dings, or cosmetic concerns. The lacquer remained exceptionally clean, the yellow brass finish retained a nice appearance, and the slide action was excellent with no service needs required to improve playability.
The original case was also unusually clean and showed very little evidence of heavy use. A mouthpiece was included.
✦ Historical Perspective
Over the past several decades, Bach student trombones have become common choices in school music programs throughout the United States.
The TB600 platform represents the modern generation of Bach student instruments produced during an era when many major manufacturers shifted production of student models to Taiwan while maintaining design oversight and quality standards.
As a result, instruments such as the TB600 helped establish Taiwan as one of the leading centers of brass instrument manufacturing. Today, many respected student and intermediate instruments continue to be produced there.
For families seeking dependable school instruments, models like the TB600 became popular because they offered consistent quality, durability, and reliable performance at a more accessible price point than many professional models.
✦ Player & Parent Perspective
From both a student and parent standpoint, this is exactly the type of instrument we like to see.
The slide action was smooth and responsive, making it easier for beginning players to develop good habits and proper technique. The instrument was clean, mechanically sound, and ready to play immediately without additional repair expenses.
One of the biggest advantages of a properly serviced pre-owned student trombone is value. Many families are surprised to learn that a new student trombone can easily exceed $1,600 through traditional retail channels.
A clean, professionally serviced example such as this provided an opportunity to avoid rental costs while still acquiring a quality instrument capable of supporting a student's musical growth.
