Yamaha YSL-8425G Tenor Trombone, Serial #01219. This professional large-bore model features an 8.5-inch gold brass bell, standard-weight .547 bore handslide, and traditional wrap F-attachment.

Full shop service has been completed at The Brass Exchange, including chemical bath, rotor inspection, and slide setup. There are no major dents or structural issues. A previous bell crease has been corrected and improved, though minor cosmetic traces remain. The handslide is smooth and plays freely, with a few small areas of inner slide plating wear typical for its age. Using a traditional cream lubricant and water mix will provide optimal slide performance.

Cosmetically, this horn shows age and playing wear, but remains a solid, well-built professional Yamaha instrument. It’s ideal for an advancing player seeking a first large-bore tenor, a private teacher needing a reliable lesson horn, or anyone looking for a pro-level setup at an accessible price point. The original Yamaha flight-style case is included and remains fully functional.

While this 8425G no longer looks pristine, it plays properly and represents genuine Yamaha quality at a fraction of the cost of new models. Finding a professional large-bore Yamaha under $1,000 is increasingly rare, and this example remains a strong performer despite its visual wear.
