KING

πŸ”Ž Historical Perspective

This King 3BLG Legend Series Trombone, built during the Eastlake, Ohio production period, represents King’s modern interpretation of the classic 3B design. With its 8" gold brass bell and .508 bore lightweight nickel silver handslide, the 3BLG preserves the familiar King response while offering a slightly warmer tonal profile than traditional yellow-brass 3B models.

This example was approximately 18 months old at the time of sale and remained in excellent condition with only minimal signs of use. The slide was outstandingβ€”smooth, fast, and quietβ€”and the instrument played exactly as expected from a well-maintained Legend Series King.

The gold brass bell softens high-frequency overtones slightly, giving extra warmth while still retaining the clarity and projection players expect from a King 3B. That balance makes models like the 3BLG especially appealing for jazz band, commercial section work, pit orchestra playing, and amplified solo performance.

This trombone included its original Reunion Blues Cordura case. Examples like this help illustrate the evolution of King trombones from the Cleveland and Eastlake eras into modern Legend Series production.

The Brass Exchange has been serving brass players and collectors since 2010, preserving historically important instruments and helping musicians evaluate, trade, and consign brass instruments of all generations.
