This Yamaha YSL-3530R is a rarely seen dual bore trombone featuring an 8" rose brass bell and .500–.525 slide, designed primarily for the Japan and Europe markets. It is not commonly available in the United States. Unlike the more standard YSL-354 model, this horn features wider bracing and a decorative counterweight, offering a more refined design overall. The dual bore slide gives players increased flexibility and volume without sacrificing ease of response.
We performed full shop service on this trombone, including a chemical cleaning and precision alignment. The slide action is excellent, with no defects or resistance on the inner tubes. There are no dents or signs of past trauma. Cosmetically, the lacquer is in beautiful condition with a warm rose hue that really stands out. Rose brass is more than just attractive—it contributes a darker, richer tone than typical yellow brass, especially in ensemble settings.
Because of its dual bore configuration (.500/.525), this trombone is incredibly versatile. It’s an ideal match for intermediate players or advancing students who need a horn that can keep up with concert band, pep band, and jazz band demands. It's even a smart choice for marching band—rose brass bells are more visible under stadium lights, making it easier to spot your favorite trombone player in formation.
Includes a super clean hardshell case and small shank mouthpiece. As of 2025, the YSL-354 model (its closest U.S. equivalent) sells new for over $1,700. This makes the 3530R an exceptional value for players looking for quality and performance with international flair.
