ETB 221 Eastman Student Model Trombone. This is a well-maintained, pre-owned student trombone ideal for beginners. It features an 8" yellow brass bell and a .500 bore lightweight nickel silver slide with a yellow brass end crook. Full shop service was completed here, including a chemical bath and replacement of the slide end crook—original part was worn, but the new one plays great. The slide action is super easy and smooth, making it perfect for developing students.
Includes the original lightweight case, easy to carry for young players, and a standard mouthpiece. The ETB 221 is nearly identical to the Shires STBA30 model, manufactured in the same Eastman factory. In fact, aside from the engraving and model number, they are virtually the same horn.
This model sells new today for around $1400—making this one an excellent value and a smart alternative to expensive rental programs.
Are Eastman student model trombones the same as the Shires STBA30?
Yes—aside from branding and engraving, the Eastman ETB 221 and Shires STBA30 are built to identical specs at the same Eastman facility. Both are high-quality, durable student instruments that play well and are easy to maintain.
This trombone has been sold and is now shown here as a historical reference for families and educators researching student trombone options.
