This Olds Super Feather Weight Model Trombone, made during the Los Angeles era in 1938, is a super rare and highly collectible instrument. Produced only for a few years before World War II, this model was discontinued after the war. With a production run so limited, it’s a true gem for collectors and players alike.
The trombone features a 7" gold brass bell with a L.A. Engraved nickel silver tone ring. The word "feather" is engraved along with the image of a feather, emphasizing the lightweight design that defines this model. This is one of the lightest vintage trombones we’ve seen since the beginning of The Brass Exchange, and it’s only the second one we've ever had in stock.

The Olds Super Feather Weight has a friction-fit slide to bell receiver, and it doesn’t include a slide lock, maintaining its simple yet effective design. The horn is in fantastic condition, with no prior bell damage and the original lacquer intact. The handslide features octagonal fluted inner tubes, a unique touch for this model. An interesting feature is the shortened length of the inner tube stocking, approximately half the length of a standard Olds Super slide stocking, adding to its lightweight nature.
