Conn 88H Late 1990’s Make, SN 135931 / R7725 with New Conn Hard Woodshell Case. This is the classic 88H model with an 8.5" rose brass bell and a .547 bore handslide for large shank mouthpieces.
This horn has had full shop service here at The Brass Exchange, including chemical bath, rotor service, slide adjustment, and complete play test. It plays exactly as it should—smooth, centered, and free-blowing. The rotor is quiet and responsive. The handslide is aligned with no plating wear or drag.
All parts and lacquer are original. You’ll notice some minor lacquer wear on the handgrip areas, especially on the lower cork barrel. There’s also slight acid bleed around the bell rim—this is common and cosmetic only, with no impact on playability or longevity. The horn is dent-free and looks fantastic.
What makes this era unique: By the late 1990s, Conn had refined production to include a soldered bell rim and a leadpipe designed for standard Morse taper mouthpieces—compatible with most modern large shank options. This is a true professional-level tenor trombone, ready for orchestral, band, chamber, or solo use.
A brand-new 88H today sells for $3000–$3500. This one delivers the same legendary playing characteristics at a better value.
