CONN

Conn 88HO Tenor Trombone. Open Wrap Model. Has 8.5" Rose Brass Bell with an unsoldered rim, and a standard .547 bore handslide for large shank mouthpieces. This is a single-owner, pre-owned instrument in excellent condition. We performed a complete shop service here at The Brass Exchange, including a chemical bath, rotor alignment, and precision slide setup. There are no dents or dings and no signs of prior trauma or repairs. All parts are original, with lacquer touch-up done only on the valve casing, slide grip, and neckpipe.

The handslide on this one is exceptionalโ€”straight, aligned, and extremely responsive. The valve works perfectly and has been professionally serviced. This horn plays exactly as it should: open, centered, and colorful in sound. The original Conn case is included and also comes with an additional black zipper-style outer case cover (not pictured, but included).

The Conn 88HO remains one of the most respected modern large bore tenors, ideal for advanced players, serious students, and professionals in orchestral or concert band settings. Retail price for a new 88HO exceeds $3400 today, making this instrument a standout value for those seeking high performance without the new horn price tag.

What makes the 88HO different from the traditional 88H?
The 88HO features an open wrap F-attachment, which offers a more free-blowing response and less resistance compared to the traditional closed wrap design of the standard 88H. Many players prefer this for increased flexibility and smoother transitions between registers. The tubing layout also reduces bends, improving airflow and tonal clarity.

This Conn 88HO has been sold and is now archived as a reference for trombonists researching Connโ€™s professional open wrap tenor trombones.
