Reynolds Argenta Medium Bore Tenor Trombone – Vintage Archive
This 1950s Reynolds Argenta is a professional-level medium-large bore tenor trombone, built with the signature craftsmanship Reynolds was known for during its golden era. It features a .522" bore handslide and an 8.5" nickel silver bell, giving it a bold, resonant voice with excellent projection and brightness — ideal for jazz, commercial, and section work.
The instrument is in very good overall condition, with all original lacquer and components intact. There are no signs of major trauma or past repairs. A few small dents and dings were previously removed from the bell section, and the finish remains original throughout. The handslide is exceptionally straight, with no plating wear and smooth action.
This Argenta plays with a fat, full tone that blends beautifully in horn sections, making it a great fit for funk, soul, rock, and wedding bands. It has the kind of bottom-end presence that helps a horn section lock in tight — trombone, trumpet, and sax alike.
Includes a non-original Bach French-style case in good used condition. A fantastic example of mid-century Reynolds design with enduring appeal for both players and collectors.
