Bach

This is a Bach 42BLT large bore tenor trombone featuring a Corporation Era bell from the 1960s paired with a modern Instruments Innovations rotary valve made in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. It’s an ideal combination of vintage Bach tonal character and modern valve performance, offering the classic sound of a 42B with the smooth, free-blowing response of a contemporary valve design.

The original 42B rotor on early models was slightly undersized, which could restrict airflow. This horn has been professionally upgraded with the Instruments Innovations valve, which provides greater openness, quieter mechanical action, and improved efficiency while preserving the traditional Bach feel and sound.

The horn is fitted with a lightweight LT nickel silver .547 handslide from the late 1990s (serial number 164566). The slide is in excellent condition with no alignment or plating issues and requires no further service. The bell section has received a complete shop service and chemical bath and plays with rich warmth, centered tone, and outstanding projection.

Overall, this 42BLT offers a rare opportunity to experience the resonant core and craftsmanship of the Corporation Era combined with the modern precision and reliability of the Instruments Innovations valve.

It comes with its original French-style Bach case, which is fully functional for storage and transport.
