YAMAHA

The Yamaha YSL-353OR is a unique model originally produced for the Japan domestic market in the 1980s. This gently used example featured a distinctive rose brass 8" bell paired with a .500/.525 dual bore lightweight handslide, accepting a standard small-shank trombone mouthpiece.

Condition at the time of sale was excellent, with no service needed to improve playability. The rose brass bell provided a colorful, resonant sound, while the dual-bore design allowed for both quick response and broader tonal presence compared to smaller student horns.

This model stood out as a step-up instrument for advancing students and comeback players. Compared to common entry-level trombones like the Yamaha YSL-354 or YSL-200AD, the 353OR offered a larger, more developed sound while still maintaining the versatility of a small/medium bore. Suitable for concert band, jazz band, or general all-around playing, it provided a clear upgrade without sacrificing accessibility.

The trombone was sold with its original case and mouthpiece.

This Yamaha YSL-353OR is now part of our Archive of Sold Instruments, preserved here as a historical reference for musicians and collectors researching Yamaha’s lesser-known models.
