This S.E. Shires TW47 Custom Series handslide was a Boston-made component, reconditioned and set up for professional-level performance. The grip areas were relacquered to protect the alloy from wear, while the slide itself received a full pro set-up in our shop, ensuring smooth, fast action and excellent alignment.
The TW47 design features yellow brass outer tubes with a wide crook, offering stability and a strong core of sound. This example came with one removable leadpipe, allowing for adjustment of response and feel.
The Brass Exchange is proud to be an Authorized S.E. Shires Pro Shop, which gives players access to Boston-built Custom Series components not available from standard Shires dealers. Regular dealers are limited to the factory-made Q Series, but Pro Shops work directly with the Custom Shop line, helping players refine and personalize their modular setups.
This TW47 handslide has since been sold and is preserved in our Archive of Sold Instruments & Components as a reference for Shires enthusiasts and researchers.
