Overview
This Conn 8H B.A.C. Customized Large Bore Tenor Trombone features an Elkhart-era Conn 8H bell section rebuilt and modified by B.A.C. Custom Trombones in Kansas City. The instrument retains classic Conn large-bore .547 design proportions while incorporating modern custom work.
Modifications include a nickel silver tuning slide and neckpipe, custom balance weight, and a handslide fitted with three removable S.E. Shires leadpipes for adjustable response. The trombone remained structurally sound and played reliably following inspection. A Protec Max case was included.
Custom B.A.C. instruments are recognized for distinctive craftsmanship and individualized design work while preserving the core character of classic American trombones.

📸 Photography From Our Early Archive
These photos come from an earlier period in The Brass Exchange photography workflow when white-balance calibration and lighting methods were still evolving. While our process has improved significantly over time, these images remain part of our shop’s history and document instruments we were honored to handle.
They also reflect our long-standing interest in fine-art photography of brass instruments and how to photograph musical instruments accurately for players and collectors.
