S.E. Shires Trubore Valve Section – Tenor Trombone | Sold Archive
Offered here is a used S.E. Shires Trubore valve section for tenor trombone, designed for compatibility with all standard .547 bore S.E. Shires bell sections and tuning slides. This modular component has a proven track record as a responsive, free-blowing player and is a great example of Boston-made Shires craftsmanship.
This particular valve section features the innovative Trubore design, which uses a straight-through F-attachment with minimized resistance and excellent intonation. It allows for open playing in both the open and trigger registers, making it a favorite among orchestral and solo tenor players seeking a smoother valve response than a traditional rotor.
A minor dent was previously removed from the F tuning slide, but all damage has been professionally corrected. Mechanically, the valve is in perfect condition. This section also includes an S.E. Shires adjustable thumb rest bar, a feature more commonly seen on bass trombone valve sections. It adds ergonomic support and custom comfort for the tenor player.
No additional service is needed to improve playability — this valve section is clean, well-aligned, and ready to pair with any matching .547 bore Shires setup.
