Vintage Archive – Conn 6H Jazz Trombone, Late 1950s Elkhart Era
This is a classic Conn 6H jazz trombone, built in the late 1950s during the Elkhart era. Serial number in the 700,XXX range places it squarely in one of the most sought-after production periods for Conn trombones. These horns have long been favored by jazz players for their feel, responsiveness, and signature Conn tone.

The bell section retains all of its original lacquer and has never been creased or damaged—a rarity for horns of this vintage. The handslide also features original parts and lacquer, with perfect alignment and a professional setup done here in the shop. One inner tube shows a small spot of smooth wear, but it’s minimal and does not require attention. The slide action remains fast, light, and quiet.

What makes the vintage Conn 6H so desirable today?
Players still chase these horns because of their balance, clarity, and lightweight feel—ideal for lead, solo, or small group jazz playing. The Elkhart-era build quality and signature .500 bore make them a timeless choice for pros and serious students alike.

This one was a seriously great-playing horn and found a new home quickly. It now resides in our Sold Archive for reference, representing one of the cleaner, unmodified late 6H models we've had.

Includes original Conn case.
