Martin TR4501 Trombone – Urbie Green Model 1980s | Vintage Archive (Sold)
This is a Martin TR4501 “Urbie Green” Model tenor trombone, built in the 1980s and kept in exceptionally clean condition. Designed in tribute to jazz legend Urbie Green, this small bore model is known for its silky sound, effortless feel, and elegant design—ideal for jazz soloists, lead players, and small ensemble work.
The horn features all original parts and lacquer with no history of damage or repair. The handslide is excellent, recently checked and still in top performance condition. Its lightweight build and balanced ergonomics, especially in the left hand grip, make this horn a joy to play over long sessions—far lighter than many other trombones of the same era.
Sonically, the TR4501 delivers the buttery tone and smooth response that players associate with Urbie’s lyrical jazz style. It speaks quickly, slots well in the upper register, and handles big band or ballad playing with equal finesse. It’s a true sleeper vintage horn that more players would appreciate if they had the chance to try one.
The original Martin case is included. No service is needed to improve playability or appearance. Mouthpiece not included.
