Greenhoe Conn 88HT Tenor Trombone – Original Build, Super Mint
Offered here is a Greenhoe Conn 88HT Tenor Trombone, built at the original Greenhoe factory in Wisconsin around 2012, prior to the company’s acquisition by Schilke Music Products. This is not a retrofit—it is an authentic Greenhoe-built 88H, crafted during the peak of Gary Greenhoe’s instrument-making years.
This trombone was played lightly for about one year and then kept safely in storage. It is in super mint condition, with virtually no signs of wear. The handslide is exceptional—smooth, perfectly aligned, and one of the best available on any professional tenor trombone. The Greenhoe valve section functions flawlessly and maintains excellent compression and response.
This 88HT comes with three removable leadpipes, allowing for personalized resistance and flexibility. The bell section is the thinwall lightweight version (hence the "T" in 88HT), providing greater resonance and responsiveness. It’s an ideal setup for serious classical or commercial players looking for the legendary Conn sound, paired with Greenhoe’s superior craftsmanship and valve performance.
Gary Greenhoe was a respected American instrument designer and craftsman based in Wisconsin, best known for his patented Greenhoe Rotary Valve system. His innovations offered better airflow and responsiveness compared to traditional rotary valves. Greenhoe’s instruments were built with a hybrid approach, using OEM components from Conn and Bach—such as bell flares, tuning slides, and crooks—combined with his hand-fitted parts and valve sections.
Following his retirement, Schilke Music Products acquired the Greenhoe brand, which continues to produce high-end trombones based on his original designs. Instruments built at the original Greenhoe factory, like this one, are highly collectible and increasingly rare.
