The Martin Urbie Green Model TR4501 is becoming increasingly rare, especially in such clean condition. This particular horn features an 8" yellow brass bell paired with a lightweight nickel silver .500 bore handslide—ideal for jazz or lead trombone work. It has no signs of damage or previous repair work and has been chem-cleaned and serviced in our shop. Original case is included and is also in excellent condition.
This model was designed as a signature tribute to jazz great Urbie Green. It’s important to note that Urbie spent most of his career playing a King 2B and served as a longtime clinician for King Musical Instruments. His collaboration with Martin came later in his career, resulting in the TR4501—a lively, fast-playing horn with a clear and elegant tone that reflects his smooth, lyrical style. For players looking to step away from the usual King 2B or 3B path, the TR4501 offers a unique voice with professional response and standout character. A strong choice for those who value both historical connection and performance.
Single-owner instrument, originally purchased around 2003. Mouthpiece not included.
✅ What makes the Martin TR4501 Urbie Green Model a standout for jazz trombonists?
While it shares the same small bore dimensions, the Martin TR4501 offers a different tonal profile—slightly warmer and broader—thanks to its yellow brass bell and Martin craftsmanship. It’s also more rare, making it a standout choice for players who want to separate themselves from the crowd while still accessing that classic jazz articulation.
This instrument has been sold and is now archived as a historical reference for jazz trombone collectors and players.
