Bach 42B Tenor Trombone — Early 1990s, Excellent Player
The Bach 42B tenor trombone has long been a favorite choice among professional orchestral players, serious students, and freelance musicians alike. This particular instrument dates from the early 1990s and has seen plenty of playing time over the years — a true sign of a well-loved and reliable horn.
Although this 42B has been played a lot, it remains in excellent working order. It has been carefully de-dented and fully serviced to ensure it plays at its best. The handslide is in excellent condition, offering smooth action and fast response, which is critical for both orchestral and solo work. The valve section is quiet and fast, demonstrating excellent compression and easy transitions between registers.
Cosmetically, the lacquer shows noticeable wear from years of regular use. However, this does not affect the sound or playability in any way — in fact, many experienced players care far more about how a horn plays than how it looks. This 42B is a great example of an instrument that might look seasoned but performs beautifully.
This trombone would make an excellent utility horn for a serious player, or a fantastic step-up option for an advancing student ready to move into a professional-level large bore tenor. It’s a solid choice for orchestral repertoire, wind ensembles, and even solo performance contexts where a broad, rich sound is needed.
A mouthpiece is not included, but it comes with the original Bach case, which is in fair condition and still functional for transport and storage.
