The Conn 10H Coprion is a vintage .500 bore trombone made during the Elkhart era and shares the same specs as the classic Conn 6H β but with a unique Coprion bell. This red brass electroformed bell gives the horn a distinctive tonal edge: warm yet focused, with added punch and projection that makes it an excellent choice for jazz combos, marching band, or even a backup horn for commercial gigs.
The 8" Coprion bell is in good playing condition and shows signs of regular use, but remains structurally sound and fully responsive. The tone is classic Conn: rich in overtones, centered, and flexible enough for a variety of musical styles.
The hand slide has been repaired and modified over the years. While not cosmetically perfect, the action is surprisingly smooth. The cork barrels are not original, and the inner tubes have been replaced at some point. Our shop also replaced the end crook and performed adjustments to make the slide as playable as possible. Itβs not pristine β but it works well for players looking for something functional and budget-friendly.
This 10H would be a great option for:
- Jazz musicians wanting a Coprion bell sound without breaking the bank
- Students or players in marching band who want a better tone than a plastic or entry-level horn
- Parents seeking a visually unique horn that stands out on the field
Silver or red brass bells like this are easy to spot on the field, making it a great choice for performances where visibility is a plus. Includes a functional case.
What is a Coprion bell?
A Coprion bell is made from a single piece of electroformed red brass (copper alloy) without any seams. Conn developed this technology to improve resonance, projection, and tonal warmth β especially useful in jazz or commercial settings.
Is this a good alternative to a Conn 6H?
Yes, the 10H shares the same .500 bore size and bell dimensions but offers a different tonal palette due to the Coprion bell. If you're curious about the 6H but want something more unique or with a slightly warmer tone, the 10H is worth exploring.
Can this trombone be used professionally?
While the horn has cosmetic wear and prior repairs, itβs fully playable. It's a solid secondary horn for pros needing something durable or a step-up for advancing players not quite ready for a premium model.
This Conn 10H Coprion has been sold and is now shown here as a reference in our Archive of Sold Instruments.
