7.5

This vintage Reynolds Contempora 30-M trombone features a lightweight .500 bore handslide and a 7.5" Bronz-O-Lyte bell — Reynolds’ trade name for a red brass alloy known for its rich warmth and tonal color. The bell is accented by a nickel silver tone ring and paired with a responsive lightweight slide, making this an ideal choice for jazz and lead players seeking a sound that’s distinct from the usual Conn, King, or Bach palette.

This particular horn remains in original condition with no signs of neglect or major repair. It has undergone a full cleaning and service, including slide alignment. The action is fast, smooth, and tension-free — ready for performance or studio work. Comes with the original Reynolds case; mouthpiece not included.

What makes the Reynolds 30-M different from other vintage jazz trombones?
The 30-M stands apart with its Bronz-O-Lyte red brass bell, producing a sweeter and slightly warmer tone than traditional yellow brass bells. It’s often compared to the Olds Super — and in fact, Reynolds and Olds shared historical roots, both originating from F.A. Reynolds and later divisions of the same corporate lineage. The 30-M is less commonly seen than its Olds counterpart, making it an attractive find for players seeking a responsive, vintage feel with boutique tonal character. Produced between 1949 and 1964, this model represents a golden era of American jazz trombone design.
