GETZEN
1062DF
Perfect Condition
bass dual bore
9.5

This Getzen 1062FD is a dual rotor bass trombone featuring a striking silver-plated finish, a premium upgrade rarely found on this model. It comes equipped with a 9.5" bell and a dual bore .562"/.578" handslide—ideal for players needing power, flexibility, and refined tone.

This instrument was owned by a single professional freelance trombonist who used it as a doubling horn. It has seen light, careful use and remains in exceptional playing condition. The valve linkage is quick and quiet, with a very ergonomic feel for the left hand—one of the standout features of Getzen’s rotor design. The handslide is superb: smooth, aligned, and tension-free.

Included are three removable leadpipes, giving players flexibility in resistance and feel. The silver finish is in excellent condition and adds both a bold visual element and a slightly brighter response compared to traditional lacquered models. Silver-plated versions of the 1062FD are not commonly found in the used market and are often available only by special order from Getzen.

Also included is the original Getzen woodshell case with keys, along with a mouthpiece, making this a turnkey setup for anyone upgrading or stepping into the world of bass trombone. Whether you're a serious student, a tenor trombonist exploring bass, or a working player looking for a dependable secondary instrument, this horn offers great value and professional-grade performance.

What makes the 1062FD model popular among players?
It offers the versatility of an independent dual rotor system with a responsive dual bore slide—making it great for solo, ensemble, or orchestral use.

Does silver plating affect how the instrument plays?
Yes — and in more ways than many players realize. Silver plate is approximately 1/5 the weight of modern epoxy baked lacquer. This reduction in coating mass allows the trombone to feel more responsive and vibrant, especially in the bore and bell response.

Imagine playing a trombone with an excessively thick lacquer finish — or worse, a double-coated one. The added weight and dampening can noticeably restrict resonance and flexibility. In contrast, a silver-plated trombone offers a livelier, freer-blowing feel, closer to what you’d experience on an unlacquered or raw brass instrument.

From a player’s perspective, articulations feel crisper, and it’s simply easier to make the instrument respond the way you want. Silver plating not only looks beautiful, but also delivers a playing experience that many serious musicians prefer.

Is the 1062FD suitable for students?
Absolutely—especially for serious students transitioning to bass trombone. It offers pro-level features without being overly heavy or difficult to manage for newer bass players.
