This Yamaha YTR-6335S professional B♭ trumpet (SN 001991) has been sold and is now part of The Brass Exchange Archive of Sold Instruments.

It is shown here as a historical and reference example for players researching Yamaha’s 1980s Regular-Weight professional trumpet designs.

Overview

This YTR-6335S was a one-owner Yamaha professional B♭ trumpet from the 1980s — the era when Yamaha’s Regular-Weight Series sat at the top of their non-custom lineup in the U.S. market. These were the horns serious advancing players bought before the Artist/Custom models existed.

This example (SN 001991) is in exceptional condition and received a full professional service in our shop prior to sale, including:

  • Complete chemical cleaning (chem bath)

  • Fresh felts, pads, and internal alignment

  • Precision valve and slide service

  • Full inspection: no prior damage, no repairs needed

The silver-plated finish is bright, clean, and free of notable defects. The piston valves are fast, quiet, and airtight — classic Yamaha reliability. This is the type of horn that simply plays right every time you pick it up.

At the time of sale, it included the original Yamaha case, three mutes, and two mouthpieces (Yamaha + Warburton) — a complete, plug-and-play package for the modern player.

Player Perspective

If you're an advancing student, comeback player, or doubling instrumentalist ready for a true pro-level trumpet, the YTR-6335S is one of Yamaha’s most consistent and best-built designs of the era.

Compared to today's models, it sits sonically between a modern Yamaha 6335 and an Xeno — lively, centered, extremely stable, and forgiving. You get the polished build quality Yamaha is known for without the price tag of a new Artist Series horn.

This particular horn responds quickly, slots cleanly, and has a beautiful core to the sound. For players who don’t want to wrestle with intonation quirks or inconsistent valve action, this is a dream trumpet to own.
