Yamaha YSL-891Z Custom Xeno Jazz Trombone

Serial Number: 511098

This Yamaha YSL-891Z Custom Xeno is a one-owner professional jazz trombone in excellent condition, recently serviced and ready to play. It was played at the college level for several years and has been well cared for throughout its life.

Before listing, the instrument received full Brass Exchange shop service, including a chemical bath, complete inspection, a fresh water key pad, and a full once-over. The slide is very good β€” smooth, responsive, and confidence-inspiring. It will not disappoint.

The original lacquer is excellent overall, with only minor wear at typical outer slide contact points from normal use. The bell has never been creased or damaged, and the horn remains structurally clean and honest throughout.

Included are two removable Yamaha leadpipes and the original Yamaha factory flight case, which is in excellent condition with no damage. The case has protected the instrument properly and remains fully functional for transport.

The YSL-891Z is widely regarded as one of Yamaha’s most successful small-bore jazz trombones. It offers quick response, clean articulation, and a modern, focused sound that works equally well in big band, small-group jazz, commercial settings, and doubling situations. Players familiar with King 3B-style horns will find the feel immediately comfortable, with Yamaha’s characteristic consistency and precision.
