Overview
This Yamaha YSL-620G trombone came to us in truly excellent condition, having been played only a handful of times before arriving at the shop. Yamaha’s 600-series instruments are known for their consistent build quality and dependable playability, and this example showed exactly why these horns remain popular with advancing students and serious hobbyists.
With its .525 medium bore slide and gold brass bell, the YSL-620G sits in a sweet spot between small-bore jazz horns and full symphonic large-bore tenors. It offers an easy response, warm tone color, and flexibility across styles — ideal for high school wind ensemble, community orchestra, pit work, or jazz section playing.
At The Brass Exchange this instrument went through our normal preparation cycle — cleaning, inspection, slide evaluation, and play-test. The slide was smooth and true, the bell and tuning section were original and free from damage, and the horn required no service to improve playability. Yamaha horns of this era are especially valued for their durability and stable intonation, making them excellent long-term instruments for players building their skills.
