Overview
This King 3BF tenor trombone from the 1970s era features the classic ropy-style bell engraving and serial number 471175. It is the familiar medium-bore King 3B design with F-attachment, built with an 8″ bell and .508 bore nickel-silver handslide. These horns have long been favorites for jazz band, commercial playing, and advancing students who want the traditional King feel with the added flexibility of a trigger.
The instrument has already been serviced here and plays properly with good response throughout the range. The slide is very good—straight, quick, and comparable to many of the better 3B slides we see. There is evidence of prior repair and solder work done before arrival at our shop, and the lacquer shows wear and loss consistent with age. It is not the cleanest cosmetic example we have handled, and it is priced accordingly, but structurally it is solid and plays very well.
For a high-school or college student on a budget who needs a dependable jazz tenor with F-attachment, this is a practical and musical option. The classic King response is all there, and the horn offers strong value for a working player who cares more about sound and slide feel than cosmetic perfection.
Original coffin-style King case is included in fair condition.
