SHIRES

This is an S.E. Shires Custom Series large bore tenor trombone, configured with a 7GYLW bell section and TW47 handslide. The 7GYLW designation indicates a gold brass bell stem combined with an 8.5" yellow brass flare — giving the bell a two-tone appearance and a remarkably rich tonal character. This combination offers both warmth and brilliance, making it ideal for orchestral, solo, and advanced ensemble settings.

The horn includes a TW47 standard-weight .547 bore handslide with three removable leadpipes, giving players the flexibility to adjust airflow, response, and resistance to suit their playing style. The tuning slide is the standard taper yellow brass design, complementing the bell section with just the right amount of stability and color.

Cosmetically and mechanically, this horn is in like-new condition. It includes a Marco Magi artist series case, a mouthpiece, full factory care kit, valve lubricants, and an active factory warranty. Everything is ready for immediate performance use — no setup or additional accessories needed.

Why is the Shires 7GYLW a standout combination?
The 7GYLW bell offers the best of both worlds — the warmth and depth of gold brass in the stem, and the clarity and projection of yellow brass in the flare. Combined with the TW47 slide, this setup delivers a rich, centered tone with colorful overtones and fast articulation. Shires Custom Series trombones are highly regarded by professional orchestral players and soloists alike for their modular flexibility and superior craftsmanship. This particular setup is one of the most balanced and versatile configurations available from Shires.
