Reynolds Argenta Tenor Trombone – Nickel Silver Bell – SN 252t74
This 1960s Reynolds Argenta tenor trombone (serial #256274) is a beautifully preserved, professional-level vintage instrument featuring a .515" bore and an 8.5" solid nickel silver bell with original lacquer. Built during the later years of Reynolds' brass legacy, this Argenta offers a vibrant, centered tone that blends warmth and projection — ideal for jazz, commercial, or all-around tenor work.
The horn is in exceptional condition, with no history of major damage or repair. The lacquered finish shows only minimal signs of use and presents as close to mint as you're likely to find on a horn of this vintage. The handslide is excellent, with no inner slide plating defects — a rare feature on instruments of this age. Our shop has performed full service including a chemical bath, once-over, and precision slide setup. The result is a smooth, responsive, and highly playable horn.
This model takes a small shank mouthpiece and plays with a full, open tone comparable to a Bach 36, is sort of a cross between a Conn 78H and a Bach 36, but with added brilliance from the nickel silver bell. A fantastic choice for any advancing player stepping into their first pro-level vintage tenor, or for seasoned players seeking a medium bore horn with personality and punch.

Why consider a Reynolds Argenta over a modern medium bore trombone?
The .515" bore sits comfortably between jazz and symphonic setups, offering flexibility and a rich, colorful tone not often found in contemporary models.
