OLDS

Olds Recording Trombone 1950's Make SN 28637.  All original parts and lacquer, plus original case an mouthpiece.  This was one of the top selling olds models over the years prior to the companies closing in the late 1970's.  Has 8" Gold Brass Bell, Dual Bore Handslide .495/.510 for small shank mouthpiece.  Both inner slide tubes are fluted- Octagonal sided, except for the stockings which are round.  The later Recording models were made with nickel silver outer handslides.  This is an earlier model when they were still using brass outer tubes.  An additional interesting component on this trombone is the factory balance weight, lacquered with the same lacquer as the rest of the horn.  Later Recording models did not include a balance weight.

The instrument feels substantial when you hold it.  It is more weighty than the later models, it is all hand made.  I think the alloy is a little heavier, which of course translates into more energy out front when played with authority.

Would be an excellent jazz/commercial style horn for any player today.  Has the right sound, and definitely plays proper.
