This Olds Opera Model vintage 1960s Fullerton, CA trombone, serial number 560263, is a professional-grade instrument that delivers an outstanding performance. Featuring an 8.5" nickel silver bell with F-attachment, this large bore tenor has a slightly larger bore than the standard .547, estimated to be around .551. It takes a standard large shank tenor mouthpiece, and the original mouthpiece is included.

The trombone plays with a huge, powerful soundβ€”very wide with excellent clarity. The Olds Opera with F-attachment offers a distinctive Nickel Silver tone that jazz trombonists especially appreciate. Notably, Curtis Fuller, a well-known jazz trombonist, played a straight version of this model on many of his recordings. Another iconic player, Bill Pierce, also recorded as a soloist using the straight version of this model.

In addition to its great sound, the appearance of this trombone is gorgeous, and it is in mint condition. The handslide is in excellent shape, and it is rare to find an Olds Recording with perfect inner slide tubes, but this one has no defects whatsoever. It is a beautiful example of Olds craftsmanship.
