Overview
König & Meyer makes three different trombone stands, and the 14885 is the smallest, lightest, and most compact option in their lineup. Built in Germany, it reflects the durability and engineering K&M is known for—simple, stable, and reliable.
This model works beautifully with small-bore jazz trombones, 8" bells and under (King 2B, 3B, Conn 6H, Yamaha small-bore, etc.). It also handles large-bore .547 tenors with 8.5" bells and F-attachments surprisingly well, making it a versatile choice if you want one stand that’s easy to carry and fast to set up.
For players who want a broader footprint and additional stability, we also carry the next size up:

That stand is better suited for heavier instruments, including bass trombones.
If you ever need the extra-tall Contra/Bass model (14910), we can bring those in as well—great stand, and a future product page is coming.
Player Perspective
This is the kind of stand you throw in the car for rehearsals, pit gigs, teaching days, and anywhere portability matters. It keeps your horn safe, sits low to the ground, and doesn’t add unnecessary weight to your load-in. For most tenor and small-bore players, the 14885 checks every box.
Questions Trombone Players Often Ask
Is the K&M 14885 stable enough for a .547 tenor with F-attachment?
Yes. For typical tenor setups, stability is completely acceptable. For very heavy horns or frequent set-downs during orchestra work, the 14990 is a better fit.
Can this stand fit inside a gig bag?
Not really.
It might squeeze into some exterior pockets, but we don’t recommend storing it inside or attached to a case. It adds weight, can cause premature wear on stitching, and isn’t ideal for long-term transport. Best approach: carry it separately or toss it into a small duffle with accessories.
Is this the right stand for bass trombone?
Not this model. Bass players generally prefer the 14990 or the longer 14910 for added height and stability.
