Overview
The King 3BF Silversonic remains one of the most respected jazz and commercial trombones ever produced, and examples from the H.N. White era continue to be highly sought after by serious players.
This particular instrument was a single-owner horn that had been carefully maintained throughout its life. At the time of sale, there were no signs of major damage or repairs, and the instrument remained in excellent playing condition. The original owner had previously invested in a professional overhaul, helping preserve both the performance and condition of the trombone.
The handslide was exceptional and contributed greatly to the effortless feel of the instrument. During evaluation, this horn displayed the response, warmth, and centered sound that have made H.N. White-era King trombones favorites among professional musicians for generations.
Many experienced King players specifically seek out H.N. White-era 3B and 3BF models because of their playing characteristics. These instruments often feel remarkably responsive while producing a focused sound with plenty of warmth and projection. The sterling silver Silversonic bell adds another layer of presence and complexity, helping the instrument project without becoming harsh or overly bright.
The trombone remained housed in its original case with the original leather outer cover and represented a wonderful example of a well-preserved vintage King Silversonic.
