Overview

This King 3B Concert Trombone (serial number 582735) was made in the mid-1970s and represents one of the strongest examples of a classic yellow brass 3B from this period.

This instrument remains 100% original, including lacquer and all factory components, with no signs of prior damage or repair. The previous owner acquired it from the original owner and invested in a professional Slide Doctor setup. Ultimately, it saw limited use afterward, and the decision was made to pass it along.

Here at The Brass Exchange, we see a wide range of King 3B trombones—and this is one of the cleanest, most original mid-1970s examples we’ve had in a long time.

It features the desirable “ropy” engraving style, and reflects a transitional era where many of the same craftsmen and build philosophies from the 1950s were still present in production.

Player Perspective

This particular instrument plays exactly how a great 3B should:

  • Immediate response
  • Centered core with warmth
  • Effortless flexibility across styles

For advancing players, this is an ideal first professional-level jazz trombone—something that will not need to be “upgraded” later.

For experienced players, this is the kind of horn you keep:
👉 clean, original, unmodified, and musically alive
