King 2B Model 2102 from the late 1980s. This is one of the most recognized and widely played small bore jazz trombones ever made.
This particular example is in good condition overall and has been fully serviced here, including de-denting, a complete chemical flush, and professional slide alignment. No further service is needed to improve playability — it is fully set up and ready to perform.
The 2B’s dual bore .481"/.491" slide paired with the 7.5" yellow brass bell makes it exceptionally responsive and ideal for jazz, big band, or commercial settings. Even with some lacquer wear and small surface scratches from regular use, this trombone still plays very well and offers that classic, brilliant King 2B sound that players have cherished for decades.
Case and mouthpiece are not included with this instrument. It was a great choice for any advancing student stepping into their first pro-level jazz horn, or for an experienced player wanting an agile, lively sound profile.
Now part of our Archive of Sold Instruments — featured here for reference to help musicians and collectors researching older King 2B trombones and tracking historical value trends.
Why do jazz players prefer the King 2B for lead and commercial work?
The King 2B’s lightweight bell and dual bore slide make it exceptionally agile and quick to respond, which is perfect for lead and commercial playing where bright projection and crisp articulation are key. Many players feel it offers a livelier, more colorful sound than heavier large bore options.
