Overview
This lightly used Greenhoe T.I.S. tenor trombone slide was built by Gary Greenhoe and features nickel silver construction, Conn-compatible fittings, and a threaded removable leadpipe. It is in exceptional condition and fully player ready.
The Tuning In Slide design incorporates a tuning adjustment into the handslide assembly. This slide offers a wider handslide spacing than a traditional Conn 88H slide, matching the width of the Shires TW47 and Bach 50. The included leadpipe accepts a standard large-shank mouthpiece rather than a Remington-shank mouthpiece.
Condition
The slide has been professionally inspected and carefully evaluated at The Brass Exchange. Its action is exceptionally smooth, with excellent alignment and no mechanical concerns. There are no dents or signs of previous damage, and virtually no visible wear. It plays beautifully as it stands and would be difficult to improve either cosmetically or mechanically.

Common Questions
What does T.I.S. mean?
T.I.S. stands for Tuning In Slide. The design incorporates a tuning adjustment into the handslide assembly. On a trombone built without a conventional bell-section tuning slide, this provides the instrument’s main tuning adjustment.
Does the leadpipe accept a standard large-shank or Remington-shank mouthpiece?
The included leadpipe accepts a standard large-shank mouthpiece with a Morse taper, such as a Bach large-shank mouthpiece. It is not designed for the longer Remington taper.
Is the removable leadpipe threaded or press-fit?
It is threaded, using Gary Greenhoe’s original thread design.
Does the slide have springs like a vintage Conn 88H?
No. This slide uses felt washers inside the cork barrels rather than springs.
How wide is the slide compared with a Conn 88H or Bach slide?
This is a wide slide, with spacing matching the Shires TW47 and Bach 50. It is wider than a traditional Conn 88H handslide. This comparison refers to the spacing between the slide tubes, not the bore diameter.
Is this slide compatible with a Conn 88H?
Yes. This slide has Conn-compatible fittings for use with a standard Conn 88H tenor trombone bell section. For a modified Conn 88H or another bell-section configuration, please contact The Brass Exchange to discuss compatibility before ordering.
